Cork 26th August 2008 October sees the Cork Vision Centre provides the setting for the second instalment in a unique exhibition trilogy entitled INHERITANCE – Honouring the Cork Legacy.
Cork Vision Centre turns it spotlight on the contribution made by Cork born and Cork-connected people who have had local, national and international impact from 1600 to the present day.
INHERITANCE is the story of an immense Cork global legacy that touches diverse corners of the world. October 2008 sees the second launch of the three year voyage that will take its audience across a fascinating era of Cork history.
Culminating in 2009 INHERITANCE consists of a series of exhibitions of more than 300 specially commissioned portraits by well known Cork artist Kevin Sanquest and accompanying biographies that have been researched by the National Folklore Project.
Conceived by Michael Mulcahy, Chief Executive of the Cork based media company Progressive News & Media Limited INHERITANCE honours the memory of those who have given Cork so much while simultaneously creating a unique permanent collection which at the end of the series will be donated on permanent loan to Cork Civic Trust for enjoyment of the people of, and visitors to, Cork.
“This project is very much about giving on a variety of levels. First and foremost it is about giving or bestowing honour on an enormous number of Cork born people who have contributed hugely on an international scale and at local and national level”. said Michael Mulcahy
Given the significant global contribution made by those featuring in this the second exhibition instalment, it is anticipated that, similar to last year’s event, a large number of Ambassadors and Diplomatic representatives will descend on Cork for this year’s event
