Inheritance – Honouring the Cork Legacy
Inheritance – Honouring the Cork Legacy is a five year exhibition project effective for one month per year. Developed by Progressive News & Media Limited, the objective of Inheritance is to honour and recognise the exceptional achievements of six hundred Cork people throughout the world.
Each year between 2007 and 2011 up to one hundred and fifty Cork-born and Cork-connected people will be honoured.
A special portrait of each person has been commissioned from artist Kevin Sanquest.
At the end of the five year exhibition the entire collection will be donated to Cork Civic Trust in keep in trust for future generations to enjoy in a new museum.
Corporate Historian Kieran McCarthy has researched the Inheritance project and some of the Cork people being honoured in the inaugural Inheritance exhibition include:
John Curtin (1885 – 1945) Australian Prime Minister.
Aloys G. Fleischman (1910 – 1992), German born Composer.
John William Fenton (1828 – 1902) Composer of Japanese National Anthem.
Stephen Moylan (1737 – 1811), General in Continental Army of George Washington, United States.
