| | | Mediterranean Colour Lights Up May
| | | Cork 19th April 2006: May brings a flavour of Italy to Cork in the shape of an exhibition of paintings by Verona based Italian artist, Pippo Borrello.
Inspired by Cork’s landscape, Celtic mysticism, and the Mediterranean seascape, Naples born Borrello presents Mediterranean Colours and Light, a series of vibrantly colourful paintings, specifically created for the Cork Vision Centre space. Borrello has exhibited extensively throughout Italy, Europe, the United States of America and Brazil.
An interesting quality of Borrello’s style is the manner in which he recaptures the line as a fundamental means of expression. In the vividness if the line, he combines an interpretation and explanation of colour that expresses itself with great power.

| | | | | | Visually striking, Mediterranean Colours and Light comes to Cork courtesy of a curious synergy involving pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKIine (GSK). Two of GSK’s largest European facilities are located in Cork and Verona. This geographical and commercial connection, enhanced by Borrello’s artistic reputation, led to the initial concept of creating an exhibition for Cork through to the decision to sponsor new works for exhibition at the Cork Vision Centre.
