The Enigma of Light
| October 2006 sees the return of well known Cork artist Dennis Spillane to the Cork Vision Centre with his new solo exhibition Enigma of Light.
In a series of new works in oils specifically created for the Cork Vision Centre, Spillane explores the ever changing light on the landscape and the mystical element of half-light .
Beyond the realm of the mystical several of Spillane’s works venture on a journey of curiosity examining the power and vibrancy of forceful blasts of light.
Enigma of Light is a collection of paintings of the artist’s vision of the spirits that live and breath within us. Spillane’s strikingly vivid paintings evoke forgotten feelings or sensations.
As Spillane says “I have worked on this exhibition for two years adding and subtracting paint to convey a certain atmosphere.”
According to Spillane the words of Leonard Cohen best describe his latest work, “there is a crack in everything, that is how the light gets in”.
Enigma of light will be officially launched at the Cork Vision Centre, North Main Street, Cork at 6pm on Tuesday 3rd October. Opening to the public on Wednesday 4th October, it will run until 28th October 2006
