Cork 19th May 2006

Hot on the heels of Maestro Pippo Borrello’s colourfully successful Italian work, Cork Vision Centre swivels back to Ireland as its June exhibition focuses on the Irish Landscape as seen through the lens of renowned Cork photographer John Hooten.

In ‘Shadows of Light’ Hooten brings his unique eye and photographic style to create a sharp and visually evocative solo exhibition that captures the ever changing light and mood of Ireland’s rugged coastline.

Passionate about photography, Hooten is delighted to present Shadows of Light as his first Cork Vision Centre exhibition.

“The rugged coastline of the western seaboard provides a constant yet varied source of inspiration. I am often stunned by the awe inspiring rugged beauty of the land from valleys with their web of rivers and streams, to the fierce raging waters of the Atlantic Ocean as it pounds the coastline with an unforgiving force. Each day I can see something new in the most familiar of places and I try to capture this not only to re-live the memories but also to share the experience with others.”

‘Shadows of Light’ will be officially launched by Micheal de Mordha, Director, Great Blasket Centre, Dunquin, Co Kerry.

Opening to the public on Friday 2nd June, it will run until 29th June 2006
