| | “Of Light and Half-Light” – by John Hall and David Lester
John Hall and David Lester have been involved in photography for over twenty years. In the past they have been involved in group exhibitions and now feel that the time has come to raise the stakes and jointly present their exhibition “Of Light and Half-Light”.
Of particular interest is the diversity of styles within each photographic genre resulting in stunning colour landscapes and evocative black and white images.
John has captured the rugged Irish landscape in vivid colour, using predominantly wide-angle perspectives and combining extremely long exposures at dusk (sometimes up to thirty minutes) with “light-painting” techniques to achieve his unique style.
David has used the black and white medium to portray a subtle interplay of light and shadow on flesh and wood producing a series of thought-provoking still life and figure studies along with images of individual trees.
The quality and subtlety of lighting combined with well-honed compositional skills paramount in taking photography beyond the “snapshot” into the realm of art.
