31st March Cork 2005:
April 2005 brings a Slovenian invasion to Cork in the shape of EYE TRY -the fourth instalment of the Cork Civic Trust Cork 2005 year long project – Enlargement! – bringing the ‘new’ Europe to Cork.
Up to twelve artists from the KIBLA multimedia centre in Slovenia’s second city Maribor, will exhibit and perform at the Cork Vision Centre. Curator, KIBLA founder, Peter Tomaz Dobrila sees the exhibition as an opportunity to expose Irish audiences to current Slovenian art.
“For KIBLA and the artists, our exhibition here is an adventure; almost a work in progress. We want to create a connection with Cork, generate a sense of involvement and have fun.”
Ranging across the full spectrum of media, the exhibition will include paintings; installations; photography; sculpture; video and live performance.
Very much to the fore of Slovenian contemporary arts, KIBLA seeks to challenge, question, communicate and entertain. Innovative use of technology has been a feature of KIBLA’s development, while simultaneously it remains committed to the pursuit of excellence in the visual media of painting and sculpture.
Visually striking, and replete with a dynamic energy KIBLA’s unique blend of visual media makes for a stimulating insight into the Slovenian contemporary art scene.
EYE TRY will be officially launched by John Kennedy, Director Cork 2005. Opening to the public on Wednesday 6th April, it will run until 29th April 2005
