Look Both Ways at the Cork Vision Centre
All eyes will be on the Cork Vision Centre @ St. Peter’s on North Main Street in February when it hosts the annual exhibition of the work of Art and Design students from Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa College of Further Education on Tramore Road, Cork. The exhibition, entitled “Look both Ways”, will feature work from 2007 graduates including painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, textiles, furniture design, multi media and graphic design representing 68 students.
A showcase for the emerging artists from CSN, “Look both Ways” is being organised by the college’s Arts Administration students. “This year we will be exhibiting over 100 works – so the show will be our biggest so far. The exhibition will appeal to everybody – adults, teenagers, children – as we will be having workshops, music and family events on Saturdays for the duration of the exhibition, free to the public,” said Carol While, the CSN Arts Administration Course Director, “There will be a performance directed by Padraig Treahy at the opening as well as music by the CSN Music Management & Sound. Music from the MMS course will be featured on Saturday afternoons, 3 – 4 pm.”
Richard Forrest from Youghal, Co. Cork, a graduate from 2007, is now studying Fine Art at the Crawford College of Art and Design. “This is the first time that my work will be exhibited in a public space”, he said. “I am really excited about it and view it as an ideal opportunity to get my art out there”.
The exhibition will be launched on Tuesday, 5 February 2008, at Cork Vision Centre @ St. Peter’s and will be open to the public from Wednesday 6 February to Wednesday, 27 February 2008.
